So I put in my BFG 6800oc and wasn't exactly blown away. It's faster and allows me to bump up the settings in my games but it didn't wow me. So I figured I should try and open up those 4 other pipes. Before I do this I want to take a benchmark so I have a point of reference on how much of a gain I got.
So I fired up 3dmark03 and ran it. WTF?? 4400. And during some of the game scenes there was a stutter. That doesn't seem right. So I checked my bios settings and changed aperture size. Flashed my bios to the latest version. Updated my motherboard drivers and intel chipset drivers. Run it again and get 5400. So I search 3dmark for someone with a comparable system(same cpu and ram) and they are getting scores of 8500. I see people claiming scores of 13000 with a 6800. I don't expect that because my CPU isn't top of the line etc but 5400 come on.
So now I am trying to figure out why I am scoring so low. I only have a 300w power supply. Not sure how much affect that would have.
Incidentally I tried opening the other 4 pipelines and got freezes and eventual crash.
