Saw this on the history channel tonight while I was surfing, but didn't have time to really look into it. Fascinating read. Hope you guys like it.

In the late 1920s, in an attempt to break Europe's hold
on the world rubber industry, Henry Ford looked to South America.
There, surrounded by the Amazon rain forests, the Ford Motor Company
built a modern manufacturing center and christened it
 
Industrial Agriculture espionage at its finest Ford had thousand of rubber plants smuggled out of Indonesia and planted on the banks of the Amazon River. My great grandfather worked on one of those rubber plantation in British Guyana in the 30s.
