This isn't accurate. I used the following config for my living room PC connected via DVI to HDMI adapter to HDMI in on the TV:
9800GTX+
DVI to HDMI adapter
SPDIF audio passthru cable from onboard sound to SPDIF input on 9800GTX+
Standard HDMI cable to HDMI in on TV.
Enabled SPDIF out in the onboard audio application.
Tuned TV to HDMI (1) as I used HDMI input 1 on the TV.
Watched X-men and listened to sound coming from TV speakers. Indicating audio pass-thru via HDMI.

What's not accurate about this statement...

Who has the time to go through this trouble to get audio out of the... TV speakers? Seriously. Just hook it up to your A/V receiver and be done with it.![]()
