I was out for close to three years as I have mentioned. Right now I am playing Black OPs and Dead Space. The pace is slower in Dead Space and I kinda like that...

Black OPs is fun but it is VERY fast (I feel like I can never slow down, maybe playing on Veteran has something to do with that)...

Anyway, it's fun to be back but now all I can think about is building a new gaming rig! If it's not one addiction then it's another...(I say that because I collect watches too) LOL!

A LOT of good FPS'ers out there right now. If you haven't played for three years.... man, you have some catching up to do! :p

What was the last game you played, before your "sabbatical"?

Maybe it hasn't quite been 3 years, I played Bioshock 1&2 earlier this year, before that..hmmmm, I honestly can't remember right now...

Ahhh... Dead Space. I love games where you can be OCD about upgrades. I remember in every playthrough of Resident Evil 4 sticking with the starting attache case all the way until the XL was available just because it wasn't "efficient" to incrementally upgrade. (You're out over 60,000 pesetas if you buy the other cases. That's a good chunk of the way to an Exclusive Upgrade.)

In Dead Space I found prioritizing the upgrade of
Stasis was most efficient. For single encounters in the beginning, Stasis + melee can give you a drop for 0 cost. For multiple enemies, stasis to collect them together + line gun secondary fire (mine) can give you several drops for the cost of a single line gun round ($500 when sold). Enemies only drop ammo for the weapons you have on you, so carrying only the Line Gun means enemies will only drop line gun ammo (each drop worth $1000).
Sell ammo. Profit.

Using the nodes that the above strategy enables you to buy,
upgrade the Ripper. The Ripper is a very efficient gun -- when upgraded in damage and duration it can take out two necromorphs with a single $240 round. The ammo drop for the Ripper is 4 rounds for $960. Assuming 50% ammo drop rate, that's $480 in profit from using two rounds in two single engagements and $760 in profit from dropping one pair with one blade. Compare to the Line gun with its 0 profit from killing two singles with two rounds, $500 from dropping a pair with one round, $1000 for three, $1500 for four, etc.
Thus the basic strategy of using the Ripper for 1-2 necros and a mine for 3+.

For some strange reason I enjoy making work out of my games.
