Really dumb question

I have a relatively new power supply that only has pcie type power connectors.

I need to power two case fans with molex connectors.

I need psu 4-pin => molex 4 pin adapter

I threw away all of the cables that came with the psu initially.

Does the adapter that converts molex to pcie for old psus and new gpus work in reverse as well?

Otherwise what adapter do I need for this problem? All of the adapters I see at newegg and amazon seem to be for molex => pcie

Did you throw away all of the SATA power cables for your PSU too?
You could've just used a SATA power to 2x molex connector cable.

I misplaced them.. Threw them away.. I don't know.

Any idea what I should be buying from Amazon or newegg? I'm sure it's not more than a 5 USD item

I do have a ssd connected via a sata connector, but I really just want an adapter that goes directly been the psu and case fans

What make and model of PSU?

It sounds like you have a modular PSU and you lost the PSU cable with the Molex LP4 ends on it, correct?

I'd take ReignQuake's suggestion. The modular cables all have different pinouts, so a generic one might be hard to find.

I have a corsair hx750

Took a look at a sata pinout and it does seem to carry 12v so should work...

If no better solution I'll probably go that route.

Thanks

Did nobody think to even check for replacement cables?

Took 30 seconds to type it in google.

Edit: And this one specifically mentions your PSU:
http://www.corsair.com/en-us/hx-tx-...th-hx750-hxx850-hx1000-hx1050-and-all-txm-psu

A little hard to check for replacement cables when the OP didn't specify what PSU is was until the post just before yours.

If Corsair will sell a replacement cable for $10, that's a better alternative.

To answer your question, it most likely wont work in reverse. Im assuming you have a modular PSU with 6 pin plugs on it that break out to the modular cables, the pinout on the PSU is almost 100% different than the pinout of the PCI-e 6 pin. I tried this very thing before, all I got was an EXTREMELY hot cable (started melting the rubber coating) and a very very very dead HDD.
