really confused about softmod?

ive read the installation in the ocfaq.com softmod guide and it just says hacked drivers. then do you still need the bios?

I believe you only need the BIOS to change the default GPU speed.

yup, the 9500/9500 pro are "locked" meaning that you have to flash the bios to overclock. the drivers will take you to a 9700 Non pro, flashing the bios and overclocking with [hopefully] get you to 9700 pro speeds

Some early version of 9500/9700 have the core/memory frequency locked in BIOS. You need either flash unlocked BIOS or getting latest Rage Tweaker.

If you have a sapphire, bios should be unlocked by default... some powecolors might be unlocked as well. Otherwise you will probably need to flash if you want to overclock.

If the hacked drivers were installed and running fine. Also you can o/c your card via Rage3D Tweaker or similar program. I'd recommend just leave the original BIOS alone.
