Really basic hub 'splitter'

So I was wandering around my friend's dorm and I saw a little splitter that is connected to the ethernet jack in the wall. The other person didn't get a computer yet so I can't confirm that it will work.

It also had a wiring diagram on it, it simply split each pin into two. Hmm?

Yeah they work they simply use two unused pairs of the CAT5.

Since they break the standard cable's connection scheme you need to use a two of them (one on each side of the Cable).

However, the pair cost more then a simple Switch, so if it used on the same Network there is No point to it.
