really bad framerates with Mafia

I always wanted to play this game so I picked it up for $10 at Wal Mart. I install it, everything goes fine except when it comes time to actually play. The highest frame rate I've seen is probably 25 while the average is much lower than that.

My computer:
1.7Ghz P4
512mb Sdram
Ti4400 (43.45 Detonater drivers)

If this two year old game is testimont to how crappy my pc is, I'm going to have to get a new one very soon...things that puzzles me is that the requirements are far lower than my pc..

personally, i dont think it was coded that well, it was a lil choppy on my old system:

I never checked what my FR for Mafia were, but I never had any trouble playen it. One of my all time favorite games awesome story and perfect ending!

Are you having trouble playin the game because FR to low? I had a 5900 ultra when I played it but your Ti 4400 should be fine.

It's just an unoptomized engine. I tried it on a Radeon XT/M2400+@2400/1g ram and it ran terribly on even the lowest settings. The game itself is great, but low performance sometimes hampers the fun.

I just hope they learned their lesson and improve upon it for the sequel.
