NEWARK, N.J. - Baggage screeners at Newark Liberty International Airport spotted ? and then lost ? a fake bomb planted in luggage by a supervisor during a training exercise.

Despite an hours-long search Tuesday night, the bag, containing a fake bomb complete with wires, a detonator and a clock, made it onto an Amsterdam-bound flight. It was recovered by airport security officials in Amsterdam when the flight landed several hours later.

Well, I can't say this is surprising, considering these workers are being paid 8 bucks an hour to look at a computer monitor showing the same things scrolling by at ~10 per minute, ~600 per hour, ~4000 per day.
 
Well, they were thorough enough to take away my allen wrench that I carry in my laptop bag for some of our network equipment brackets despite the fact that the two other airports I went through said nothing about them. I guess I can disassemble a Boeing 737 in midair with on an allen wrench or something. McGyver style, bitches! 😀

Pathetic, but all airport security in north america is intensely pathetic. Not until terrorist attacks are a regular occurance will north america take airport security seriously. It was mentioned in canada lately how much of a joke it is, but not until real fear is sowed in the minds of travellers will we tolerate what needs to be done to properly screen, and more importantly stop hiring highschool drop outs making $8/hour.
