Right now in front of my apartment complex, there is about 20 FHP and Sheriff's cops with at least 3 fire trucks cleaning up the scene it looks like.

This is what happened from what one of the people who saw this thing unfold in my apartment complex:

Some guy in the apartment complex right across from mine was chasing after his dog. I guess the dog got loose. So when he caught the dog, an Audi SMASHED right into him. Him and his dog went right through it.

He said he saw the guys leg hanging from the front of the car. When the paramedics came via helicopter, he also said that the guy that got hit had a red plastic bag over where his leg was? I wasn't really sure if his leg was missing or if it was just bleeding severely.

I'm looking for a news report but nothing has came up yet........

When I got to this scene, they were only cleaning up. This intersection is very bad, last week someone crashed through the wall in the apartment complex across from me last week.

Here are some of the pics I could take with my POS camera.

Does anyone know what the red plastic thingy means? The guy I was talking to also said the paramedics were walking, not running like in a hurry....I hope the guy didn't die because of his damn dog! :|

I'm guessing it was a fatality based on your description of the event here.

If he died (and from the description, I'd say that's likely), he didn't die because of his dog.. he died because he wasn't looking where he was going, and made a poor judgement call regarding traffic on the street.

I would hate to be the driver of the Audi..

Yea, they were talking to the guy when I got there. The guy that was talking to me said earlier the guy was rocking back and forth because he was so scared after he hit the guy. Poor driver, accidents happen. :(

One of my biggest fears for when my dog gets loose somehow is if he ran straight ahead onto the big street instead of off toward the side streets. One time he did run straight across but luckily no cars were going by and there was a snowbank that stopped him from going further.

Things like this can happen more often than we believe... cause you're not thinking about much except catching the little one that got away. Sure you look for cars, but do they look for you ? Having it happen at night is 100x worse.

All I can say was that it wasn't me that hit him. I feel really sorry for this guy. He was doing something to insure the safety of his pet. Call me a Darwin Award in the making, but I would risk my life for my dog. She means a lot to me and my life is very inconsquential in the grand scheme of things.

Yes, right before University.

And Vortex, yes it's about 3 minutes away from Waterford. We are moving there in a couple months....

LOL, no it's a 4 lane street, it kind of does with all of the cops around there.
