really annoying issue using bridged networks on Win 7 with a NAS

Here's my scenario:

1 PC in the far reaches of my home with a Zotac board with WiFi (802.11g) and a 10/100/1000 NIC on the board.
1 NAS (US Robotics POS) but holds my data for now - no WLAN, but has 10/100/1000 port.

Bridged the WLAN and NIC on the Zotac system which allows for WLAN connectivity to my router and the internet, the LAN port connects directly to the LAN on the NAS device.
The directly connected PC (Zotac) to NAS connection is at 1000Mbps - and I can browse the NAS just fine from that PC directly - it's just systems outside that box that get the timeout/failure...

I can ping the NAS, I can "see" the shares - but I cannot browse the shares - it times out.
The NAS Web-UI fails on any machine except the locally connected box - I get the first 'certificate warning' - but never gets to the login screen.

Outside the PC/NAS - I can see the PC (Zotac), no issues - security setup with Homegroup between remote PC's and the Zotac system... all firewalls are turned off in Win7; networks are set to "Home Network"

to me - it seems that data can go 'to' the NAS, but not come back 'out' - I would think it's a Windows permission problem, but when the NAS web GUI fails - that's a whole different issue...

help!?
