Realistic goal?

Losing 15lbs of fat in 2 months? Is this a realistic goal?
I'll be going to Mexico in a few months and I would just like to drop some of this fat before I get there.
I hit the gym every other day for 45 minutes, and run for 30 minutes every day I am not at the gym. But I am not losing any fat.
Any tips?

You probably have to revise your diet if you aren't seeing any results.

You could work out like a madman, but diet is a huuuge part of changing your appearence.

Like, low carb? Or low fat, low cal? I have read low carb is a good way to lose weight.

Yup - exercise alone will not do - got to alter your diet. The good news is that the results you are seeking ARE attainable (I dropped 40lbs in about 6 months!!!!!)

EDIT - I did a high-protein low carb diet (Protein Power)

Yep. Start eating leaner foods and better meals.

A couple of weeks before you go, try to lower the amount of carbs by as much as possible and increase the protein.

Also, try to drink more and more water.

What about diet coke? I like water and all, and I drink plenty, but sometimes I crave diet cola.

Most of it is diet. Don't think about low carb again. Just cut your calories lower. 5-6 meals throughout the day, evenly spaced, high in protein. Dunno your weight but you should spend most of your time reasonably hungry. Mix that with cardio and you'll lose fat. Don't overdo it on cutting the calories though.

Diet sodas are fine. No calories.

15 lbs in 2 months is reasonable _if you're serious about this_.

So lately I've been doing my diet and I hit a slump for a good week. I've been eating a nutrigrain bar for breakfast, a salad with no dressing and grilled chicken that I make myself for lunch, and something small, like a bowl of cereal for dinner. All the while doing light exercise. (Lifting for 10 minutes, 10 minutes on treadmill) Yesterday I eat a small bowl of cereal for breakfast, eat 3 items at Taco Bell which I regretted greatly during the course of the day, then we went to the driving range and afterwards had a nice run for about 30 minutes uphill. Then I got a large frappucino (not good, I know.) Today on the scale it said I dropped 5 lbs. WTF!!! So should I be eating more and working out more? No sh!t more exercise helped, but is more food appropriate? Especially the sh!t at Taco Bell?

EDIT: I usually drink about 120-180 fl. oz of water a day. Too much?

Low carb diets were popular in the 70s and people DIED as an indirect result (or direct) of them. They were widely discredited yet somehow resurged in popularity again in the last few years.

We're talking about eating RIGHT, and choosing what you eat as opposed to scarfing down whatever. Eating large amounts of carbohydrates is perfectly healthy for you provided they are complex, not simple.

I weight about 145, but I am small framed and 5'7".
most people will say, "145? WTF? Why do you wanna lose weight?"
I don't wanna lose weight, just fat, and I have plenty of fat on me.

With that quantity of food, you should probably be washing it out with a lot of water...you're drinking close to a gallon and a half, which might be slightly excessive but as far as water is concerned as long as it's spaced out you should be ok. The trick is to drink BEFORE you get thirsty.

Yeah, but when dieting-nutrigrain bar/salad/bowl of cereal = water, wasn't seeing so much a result. Yesterday when eating fvcking Taco Bell and some more exercise, I dropped 5 lbs. I've never really seen that happen. Should I be eating more? Maybe I'm going into starvation mode and only using an availible amount of calories?

Have you been doing more cardio or more lifting? I've been doing crunches, and then weighted crunches. I started doing regular crunches while watching TV about 2 weeks ago. Could do about 50 at a time and did 2 sets to total in at 100. Now I'm doing 200. With 100lbs of crunches, I can do at about 35-40. Make sure you take your time. Holding out at pressure points instead of getting them done quickly will help.

About the same. I used to do only running. 6 days a week. But I wasn't seeing any results except being able to run farther, I wasn't losing fat. So I started lifting and running, I started to see some results a few weeks in, but they went away pretty fast.
I think it's the way I eat. I eat too much crap I am sure. I am not gaining weight, just not losing. And I sit on my a$$ all day at work. I just can't see myself cooking myself healthy meals every day. But I guess if I want results I have to start making sacrifices.
It's just so hard when there are so many cakes and cookies and sweets and stuff around the house. My bf eats whatever he wants and loses weight, and he wants cake a cookies and fats and oils.
It's really hard to practice self control when I am hungry. When I am hungry I eat.
And during those periods that I am hungry, I just don't care about losing weight. It's hard to explain. I really want to lose weight, but I don't have any help. It's just me.

It sucked for the first day not going out to Quiznos and such. But I think its worth it to hold out. Whats even worse is when you're going out with friends and you have to get a water/iced tea. And they're chomping away on a nice danish. Well fvck em. You're not alone🙂

How much do you weigh? How much have you lost? How do you stick to it?
I just need to know how to get out of the hungry kick I get into.
When I get hungry, I just don't care. No matter how much I want to lose weight. It's not till after I eat that I feel horrible.

80% of how you look is about what you EAT. Your excercise is as described is ok. Now face your eating. Small meals, 6 times per day to get your calories. You can do the high protein thing if you are disciplined.

I have some really rude tips for losing weight, but they work. 🙂

1. Fvck everybody. As you get older, the only social get together you can really do lately is go out to eat. Appetizer (which is usually fried) shitloads of sugar soda, and a main course probably with butter and salt is not good. Avoiding going out is the best way. Does it suck? Sometimes, but I feel that there is something better ahead of me that I don't want to miss.

2. As a redblooded man, I've learned the only thing that can overpower hunger is sex. Crazy, but true😛

3. You can't change until you want to. No one can affect your weight but you. In life today, many people just hope for things to happen-will this stock go up, what will happen at work, etc. My brother told me that luck is when preperation meets opportunity. My parents can't help me, my friends can't, only I can.

4. Understand this won't be easy at times. However seeing rewards will be worth it.

5. It comes down to a culmination of all these things. You can control what you eat, you may have to miss out on a few get togethers with friends, not enjoying dinner with your bf. I realized that I have control of this, and I find solace in that.

Good luck🙂
