Realistic AGP upgrade (~$200)

X800Pro and X800GTO are 2 of the cards I am looking at in the around $200 range (give or take $30). I have a 9800 (128mb) now which doesn't really cut it. I can play but need the vid upgrade (already have 1 gig ram).
Adding a PCI-E MB leaves only enough for a ~$125 vid card which I am sure doesn't mean an upgrade and a windows reinstall as well. I am planning on going PCI-E in the comp I am slowly building.

After reading a ton here and elsewhere I have got some questions which seem to be answered differently because of lack of info.

AGP versions of both of these cards are different from PCI-E.

If I understand correctly then the GTO can NOT be unlocked. Correct?

The Pro's desirable are the VIVO ones? So just any old Pro won't be unlockable nor that overclockable? Which are VIVO? I can find some Pro's for just over $200. Will they be any good?

Of these two which is better...1) stock or 2) modded?

Question for the Nvidia fans? Any good cards of there's in this price range.

Keep in mind I know what the best are (7800 or X850XT or whatever) but they are not reasonable when building another comp. Also I usually play at lower res...say 1024X768. Would like AA and whatnot tho. No need for super high res, but it's a plus.

Thanks in advance.....

Go for the X800 Pro as the GTO is not unlockable for AGP to the best of my knowledge.

Your best bet IMO is to get the X800 Pro and then pick up an ATI Silencer 4 and o/c that card. I was able to get about 550/550 out of my X800 Pro with an ATI silencer, making it on par with an X800XL, if not a bit faster :) .

Well I ended up going by Best buy and found they have X850Pro for $254 after $30 rebate. A tad over budget but it should OC even better than the others :p

Looks like AGP cards have the advantage here from my short research.

Have you looked at the refurb deals from Ati? An x800pro should be going for somewhere around $200, and would be good for modern games at 12x10 or 10x7, high settings with AA/AF.
