Thanks for sharing the info. It is very informative.

I would also like to know why the sender eats up as much ram as it can find when the recipient initiates the transfer - Anyone have any ideas?

PAUSE frames are not inherently bad for performance. However, most SOHO grade switches / NICs get it wrong and that affects performance. So a fairer statement would be to say that you should test with PAUSE frame support enabled and disabled and do what gives you the best overall performance.
