I am torn between getting an x79 system with 8 memory slots running 32 gig of 4 gig sticks at 2133 mhz or an ivy bridge system running 32 gig of 4x8 gig sticks at 1600 mhz. I am wondering how much of a difference there will be in speed using fancy cache in either setup. Does anyone have fancy cache using either x79 or z68 currently?

Difference yes...but...it depends on what will you be using it for?

Regular home stuff and games, none that you will notice really.

Newer DDR3 ram is already so fast that caching software like Fancycache will yield much perceivable gain in usage when going from ram that benchmarks at 6GB/s to 12GB/s.

I use that software and have measured stock jedec clocks and 2100+mhz overclocks and the system feels a bit snappier overall.. but actual speed when caching larger files is the same. I'm guessing that you'd have to have a chronograph sewed into the side of your head to even tell outside of a benchmark.

Far too many other bottlenecks in the system for caching speeds to make much difference. Basically just lessor perceivable jump in performance when you move from ultra-fast.. to super-ultra-fast. lol
