Real quick question: what current generation sound card will work with no problems in Win2000?

I had a Diamond MX300. I couldn't get the thing to work. I bought a Maxi Sound MUSE which, on the box, said it works on Win2000. I can't get the rear channels to play. I've emailed the company and checked the site for drivers, of which there are none. So, SBLive works okay? I was looking at the new X-Gamer. Will it work okay? I'm going to return the stupid Maxi Sound and exchange it for the X-Gamer.

My SB Live! Value Card works perfectly. Make sure to get the w2k drivers. I recall it being a 50MB since they include lame software with the drivers.

The mx300 works in win2k except there aren't any drivers for it from diamond. Just use the generic ones that win2k installs.

actually, they did finally release WDM drivers for the mx300, i had one but traded it to a friend for a live for linux support. with the WDM drivers, you even get A3D in win2k.

however, it is a pain in the a$$ to install them. i still have them along with install instructions, if anyone wants them...email me. (they are 35M tho :p )

Check the hardware compatibility list (HCL) on the MS site to to be absolutely sure...
