well, sort of... technically i'm not allowed to (optimum online cable service does not allow ANY servers) but i would like to be able to occasionally access small files from the outside (such low bandwidth use shouldn't send up a red flag that there is a server, right?). i don't really have a clue what i'm doing so at the moment i would call it tinkering...
i downloaded OmniHTTPd to see what i could do, but i don't seem to be having any luck. when i put in that ip address i get the website in my "server" folder, but i guess it is just looping back the info. without someone on the outside trying to connect i can't tell if i got it right.

any suggestions?

afaik, optimum blocks port 80 (rather quickly) if/when they find out that you're running a webserver. if you just want to access files i recommend using an FTP server instead.
