Real Part of Characteristic Roots from an Underdamped Transient Response

Any tips on how to estimate the real part of the characteristic roots of a circuit just by looking at an UNDERDAMPED response???

Can you be a little more specific? What do you know about the system you're trying to characterize (i.e. do you know the order of the transfer function or anything similar)?

Depends on the order of the transfer function. If it's first or second order then it's straightfoward. Anything after that is a little more tedious & complicated.
