I missed that SNL. His readings are partially right so it can't be staged (or completely staged). Does anyone think he has something up his sleeves and his readings are all staged?

Fake, fake, fake.....when I first watched the show I thought it was pretty amazing, but I read an article a couple of months ago that really shed some light on the matter. Everyone in the audience fills out a questionaire before the show, and also the audience is miked so his "staff" can listen to their conversations talking about their loved ones among other things and pass on the info to him before the show.......pretty much slammed him as not being much better tan Miss Cleo.....:)

There's a magician by the name of Andre Cole. He used to be an understudy of David Copperfield. He has a challange set forth to all mind readers, fortune tellers, etc etc... Any one who can pass his series of tests to display supernatural abilities wins something like 25,000 from his pocket (other magicians have put more in the pool, it's close to 1 mil now.) I guess no one has even passes his preliminaries.

It all depends how you look at it.

There was a show on the learning channel last year where they tested a few people for "special" abilities.-(i think the tests were actually done about 5 years ago) Anyway John was one of the people being tested, make a long story short he scored like 65%, most of the other people scored 25-45%. Which by any measure put him well above the average for the types of tests used. It was a very interesting show, even the scientist that conducted the tests was suprised that john scored so high, as the tests were all very different. It wasn't like his show where he is in total control of what to ask and to whom. One of the tests was really cool, John sat down in a chair then someone would enter the room and sit about 10ft behind him, then the scientist would ask John to describe the clothes the person behind him was wearing, down to the colors. The person behind him was NOT allowed to talk or make any noises at all. He went on to describe the color clothes the person was wearing all the way down to actually describing the braclet the person was wearing.

At the end of that program the scientist had to admit that John had some ability he couldn't explain.

You can't get a real idea of whether or not he's fake by watching his television show, because it's heavily edited (even he admits that). There was some "expose" on 60 Minutes about psychics and all, and the overall consensus about him was that he's very talented at eliciting information and making educated guesses based on peoples' reactions to his suggestions.

There was some blurb from him about how each ten minute reading you see on television actually takes an hour or two to tape because there's a lot of stuff he asks about that doesn't mean anything and it gets cut.

I personally think he does what people want him to do - gives them warm fuzzy feelings about their loved ones still watching over them. I do not think he's psychic or that he sees dead people. He's just really empathic and is good at phrasing things so that people are sure he's talking about their loved one.

<< There's a magician by the name of Andre Cole. >>

That's James Randi - the Amazing Randi. He's a pretty chill guy, he's always on TV discrediting psychics and whatnot. It's all a load of crap. It's also no coincidence that Edwards asks questions very quickly. He's a total fake and it disgusts me because people pay money to travel to him and hear a load of crap.

Further to lebe0024's post I was reading in a psych book some time ago that somebody had put up $1 million or something like that for anybody who could prove they had super natural powers like this. As of time of writing nobody had claimed the prize.

Additionally this book quoted a study that asked dozens of police stations across the US that had used psychics for help solving cases and to the last one each and every station said that their use of psychics in no way aided the investigations.
