do you prefer the real maple syrup that is expensive as hell and sooooo delicious.

or

the stuff that you get in mass quantities from the grocery store that is cheap, and thick, unlike the real stuff

No clue if I'll really be able to tell the difference. But I'm fairly certain real would be better.

I do believe you could tell the difference.

For $40/gallon, I would hope so..:)

you can tell easily.

real is really really runny, and very much sweeter.

Depends on what I'm putting it on:
Real waffles/pancakes = real syrup
Toaster waffles/pancakes = fake syrup

I also like real syrup on my bacon and sausage. Don't know why/how I started doing that, but yum!

real

the fake stuff has too much of a processed flavor.. doesn't take like maple at all.. and even though its sweet it doesn't taste good
real stuff is sweet, but its light.. and more mild, its not a harsh flavor..

i've actually made my own fake kind that destroys the store bought fake kind.. uses maple extract/imitation flavor (the latter in my case), and its not harsh, very similar to real maple syrup except its not as good tasting.. but it shares the light and not harsh properties. i've gotten to the point i can barely use any fake crap

I never had a problem with the fake syrup, but once I got a taste of real maple syrup - whoa! I much prefer the genuine.

I'm lucky that we have relatives who send us a gallon every year at Christmas. If I had to buy it I don't think I would because it's so expensive.

Has anyone who prefers the real deal ever tried a 50/50 blend just to stretch it?

Love the real thing... but it's gotta be warm to hot. Cold is no good (at least no on MY pancakes :) )

For most days though... most any Log Cabin type works.
