I guess there's less interest in real Snuff films, thus not as prevalent?

Obviously. I have yet to find a real snuff film, but I've already unintentionally seen CP (fucking 4chan).

You can probably find the Dnepropetrovsk maniacs murder tape easily enough. Not something that many people would want to watch though...

Snuff films are an urban legend. Beyond a few self made ones by serial killers sitting in evidence lockers, I don't any exist.

I watched a real great documentary about the idea of Snuff Films and trying to see if they really existed. It was part of a series called "The Dark Side of Porn".

In the documentary they essentially concluded that the idea of snuff films etc was created in part by fake snuff films like "Cannibal Holocaust" and that people came to generally believe that snuff films did exist, however no 'real' snuff films have been found nor has anyone succesfully been charged with creating a snuff film, even though the FBI once had a division specifically searching for snuff films. Films that people make of murders for their own self-gratification do not count because they are not doing it to create a 'profit', which is the key idea behind a 'snuff' film. The documentry also concluded that we don't need to make snuff films because modern special effects are able to create the effect of someone dying without the risk of getting charged with and committing murder.

On the other hand, you hear about Child Porn crack downs all the time. It is a real and dangerous industry.

Meh...snuff films are much more fun to make than they are to watch.

Everyone knows this.

When I was a kid I use to think all action movies featured real people dying and that those were just convicts who were going to die anyways.

I remember seeing a video going around about a guy getting stabbed with a screwdriver. I didn't watch it, but weren't those videos part of a multipart for profit snuff film?

That's the three kids in some Slavik country that beat a bum to death, I think it's the one mentioned above called Dzohyvzksitskz or something like that.

Then there's the other one where the Serbian soldier puts a knife through another guys throat while his head is underfoot.

I imagine that there's plenty of footage around of people dying, the PA elected official who puts a revolver in his mouth in front of dozens of people comes to mind. But I guess if it's not made "for profit", then it's not a "snuff" film.
