Damn, this came through Portland and I didn't even check it out! I should have been sitting on a freeway overpass all day.

BTW, I love these guys. You can download a lot of their videoclips off of car forums, and they are sick! My favorite shows a RUF Turbo with the speedo climbing over 200MPH on some backcountry two-lane highway.

Better to use a supercar than to keep it garaged. And a $1000 fine is like Kleenex for these guys. The fact was (and still is), when traffic pigs hear about these guys coming through their state, dollar signs light up their eyes.

I'm surprised that there aren't penalties such as "loss of priviledge to drive" in a particular state (they can't take away licenses granted in other states, AFAIK) Thus, pulled over at 120 mph means "we're towing your car to the impound lot. You need someone else to pick it up for you."

I saw them in Vegas a few years back...they all pulled in to the Mandalay Bay. It was so beautiful, seeing $8-10 million in cars all under one carport.

Sounds interesting.

Bikers have been doing it for decades. Though it generally is within one state, and it's usually done slowly with lots of beer and titties.

Bikers are slow and chill, sports car people are fast and crazy. Completely different animals.

theres so many gumball ripoffs now its not gonna special any more

the gumball 3000 rocks, im an avid fan. but theres also the bull run, and ultimate rally

ultimate rally was set up by a guy called Kim Schmitz, he usually does the gumball when its in europe, but wasnt satisfied with there not being cash prizes and prizes for first place (since gumball doesnt award those who come in first) so he set up ultimate rally. no holds barred racing across continents...for a $2million prize, its gonna be awesome, 2006 is the first run i believe

and my favourite story is this.....guy in a lambo gets pulled doing 194mph before he even makes it to france. car gets impounded.....so he gets a friend to bring out his other car, a Mclaren F1!!!! he drives that for abit, it gets impounded in belgium, so then he pays £6000 for his lambo to be unimpounded, and another £6000 to have it driven to him. (i would of done it free) he then writes it off a few hours later

one english guy bought a koenigsegg.....went it leaked oil everywhere, he bought a brand new volkswagen...just for the radiator cap or something. a BRAND NEW VW...jus so he didnt have to wait round for a radiator cap that cost like 2 cents.

Yeah. There used to be videos floating around the net (and they probably still are) of the Gumball 3000. It's always really awesome and funny stuff to watch. Just how insane they drive and some of the stupid stuff they do on the way.

Kim however is a fat dumbarse, with an egotistical personality. I'd rather not watch anything that has him involved in it.

I wanted to start one of these with friends.

Use cheap rental cars, have a scavenger hunt across the US, throw a GIANT kegger at the end.

Almost got it organized but interest kind of faded.

Gumball is kinda cool, but wasn't the Jackass boys in a show with them?
The gumball 3k is cool though.
