Real Estate web sites, huge untapped potential?

I heard an ad for Pacific NorthWest Real Estate on the radio this morning and checked out their web site.

Assuming you can get real estate agents, some lenders and fresh property listings on a continual basis it could be successful?

I already have web hosting covered, just need to figure out if it's worth looking into further.

A friend of mine has a "media services" web sites where they do custom 3D 360 degrees virtual tours of properties. He charges them a small amount to create the 3D virtual tour and if the house sells he gets around 0.5% ... He recently helped sell a $150,000 house and earned $750 from that house alone for roughly 2 hours of work.

If it's successful I could tie in my services with his.

Unfortunately, realtors as a client base are notoriously cheap. They make you seem like a big spender. What can work, assuming you can get an "in" -- realty is a very socially-driven demographic -- is charging for template-driven sites, and charging a very small amount. There are several sites doing this for $20/mo, with no fee for site creation.

If you get into it (especially in Portland), contact me. I'm running a company that works with Realtors but our time is severely limited right now.

Definitely, I'll be in touch if I decide to go for it.

Even if I get 2-3 clients a month I'll be happy.

You could also upsell and offer "discounted" Dell monitors and systems 😉

Best of luck if you do it. Have fun dealing with Realtors. They are salesman. Trying to sell something to a salesman is something I hate doing.

I've done a couple realtor pages and it was a pain. They wanted to update the pictures themselves but had no idea how to re-size pictures. They wanted this and that updated each week because the price changed a thousand. I got tired of dealing with them. Finally had them upload the pics they wanted to a database. I resized them on the page, which meant long load times on their pages. Dealing with those guys was exhausting and I took the first opportunity I could to let them go. Spoke to 1 a few months later and he was complaining about how much his new website company was charging him. I laughed and declined his offer to help out again.
