real estate company -- didn't take me seriously

It's a good thing I like our agent... the head of the real estate company we're going through for finding a house told our agent not to waste her time with us, because we'd never be able to afford the kinds of places we were looking at. Fortunately, she stuck up for us. He thought I was only a part-time pizza shop employee.

But, it made me wonder..... I wonder how many other people in this city think "he's just a pizza employee"
It really doesn't bother me - if they want to judge me that way, then they're not worth my time.

Anyways, looking at a farm right now.... over 70 acres of land, 4 bedroom home built in the 70's, and enough room for at least 100 head of cattle (not that I have any plans of having more than half a dozen for beef - I already have their names picked out: "Sirloin," "Delmonico," ... 🙂

so are you the "pizza guy"? The "guy that employs the pizza guy"? Or something else...just curious.

Since I don't know anything about you, I'll assume that you *aren't* just a part time pizza guy.

Anyways, this stuff happens all the time. It's the same way a nice restaurant will treat a younger appearing person inappropriately because they think they will not tip enough or may not act in a proper fashion during a meal. There really isn't much you can do about it.

Well, other than be satisfied that you are still buying the house, or still getting a steak dinner at a swanky restaurant.

one of my friends gets that all the time.

he's a stock broker on Wall Street... he's a total workaholic, though, so even after getting his real job, he kept the job that he had through high school / college as a pizza delivery guy on weekends. makes pretty good money, too. his paycheck from his real job pays for rent / food / utilities, with any extra going into a savings account, and his pizza money pays for things like a pinball machine on e-bay and his MAME cabinet 😛

Well I tend to not judge people as I know some people may not dress as well/ look this way or what not but some are seriously loaded!

I hate people who are 'snobbish'.

Can I come up and hunt on your farm?

For those who didn't know from other threads, I'm a math/physics teacher, and my wife is an RN. As far as raising cattle, my inlaws have a farm (alpacas, miniature llamas, and llamas, and a horse, but no cattle at present time). I've been around cattle many times in the past though, and have no problems with getting my hands dirty working on a farm. But, any farming will be secondary to our regular jobs, thus I will NOT have any dairy cattle. Just no way I'm getting up early in the morning to milk them (although much if not all of the milking equipment is in the barn - at least the milk room, and the equipment at that end... I didn't venture any further into the barn to see what other equipment was there - and I don't care if it IS there. We'll be raising chickens, guinea fowl (to keep the gardens free of bugs), peacocks (just because), pheasant, and just a few cattle for beef - estimating slaughtering 2 a year - (father-in-law used to work in the business, I already do a few deer a year). Plus, perhaps a few more "exotic" animals such as miniature llamas. NO PIGS.

Plus, planning on a huge garden as well as putting in a fruit tree orchard wherever we move to. (20 cherry, 20 apple, 20 peach, 20 pear, and a couple of plum or other) - they take quite a bit of work each year, but it's not too bad. Bad years = enough fruit for us for canning, etc. Good years = extra income from selling excess at market.

I have a brother in Nashville who delivers pizza part time. He makes almost $15.00 per hour cash.

He wants to pay off his mortgage in 15yrs. so works a full time and a part time job.

Where does he find time to play with his pinball machine and MAME cabinet?

western NY, shockwave. And, as far as the hunting goes, KK, other than the animals we raise, it looks pretty questionable about the hunting on that property... a lot of Amish families in the area (including the neighbors) From what I've been told, they take game out of season, and no one hassles them about it. The property has a few tree lines on it, but very little of it is really wooded. No mast crops as far as I can see (I haven't walked the entire land yet), but it does border on a farm with a lot of corn planted. I gave up on looking for deer paths as a lot of the ground is quite wet right now and the cattle paths are just overwhelming. It seems I saw a few deer tracks, but I've looked at a few properties in the past week and I could be mistaking it for elsewhere.

actually i had this problem when i got oure farm. I was 22 when i baught my first place.

I actually had to get a new agent. The first one i had didnt believe i could not only afford the place but get a loan. Even haveing my father come in didnt help. She kept showeing me crappy houses in town. finally i blew up at her when she showed me a crappy house in town.

I got a new agent and baught a nice small farm. Went to the first agent and showed her the paperwork and told her she lost a easy sale.
