Real 5.25" Bay LCD Screen?

Synomenon

Lifer
Anyone know if there are any real LCD screens / monitors that are made to fit in a standard 5.25" drive bay?

I'm looking for something similar to this car stereo's screen, but that fits in a 5.25" drive bay and can be used as an extra monitor:

Hmm, for making one, there may be a possibility of buying one of those gigantic status displays, like what you use for monitoring/controlling fan speeds. They have big displays like you are thinking, but I don't think they are full color displays? Then, get a standard display and swap it out?

let us know how your research comes along

Hehe, was looking for a drop in and go type of install. Not looking to go through all the trouble (and modding) to get one.

Thanks. I've seen that Thermaltake unit, but it's not what I'm looking for. I just want a LCD screen (similar to the head unit I linked to above) that will fit in a 5.25" drive bay.

A standard 5.25" optical drive bay is ~5.75" x 1.65"

At a 16:9 resolution the largest screen you could reasonably fit in a drive bay would be 3" diagonal at 2.66" x 1.5"

Look for a product with a 3" 16:9 screen

If you could use 2 bays, that would allow for a 5.7" screen at ~5" x 2.8"

I did a quick look for 3" LCDs and found a few products you may scavenge from as well as separate LCD options from Sharp.

And found this from one of the distributors listed on the Sharp webpage:

I'm certain there are more options out there, hopefully this gives you an idea where to start/look. It does appear that you will need to do some fabrication of your own though.
