Readyboost and USB 3

USB 3

After reading this, I would opine that Readyboost may be unnecessary for most users. The final answer will probably have to wait until USB 3 is released and tested in the field by users.

Discuss.

You're probably already limited by the transfer rate of the Readyboost drive itself with USB2, so USB3 should show no gains unless you get a flash drive capable of transfer rates greater than 60 MB/s.

Probably not. The main advantage of flash drives that readyboost leverages is seek times. Your SATA based pagefile is going to have much faster throughput than any flavor of USB.

You're not the boss of me.

I assume if I have 8GB memory, I wouldn't need ReadyBoost....or pagefile for that matter.

Correct about readyboost, but not the pagefile. Just let that one be 🙂

You'll still get some use out of of ReadyBoost. As long as things are written to your pagefile (and mirrored on USB) you'll benefit.

As for the pagefile... /facepalm ...lets just leave it at "yes, you need one" 😀
