I have a 6800Ultra with Dual DVI's. I was ready to buy the 2005fpw but after hearing my friend talk about how 2 lcds are way better....got me thinking.

If i were to go 2 lcd's.....what is the best size to get? 17's, 18's or 19's? Im gonna be looking for the thinnest bezels since i do plan on playing in full view where 2 screens are 1.

Thanks

not sure u can actually play on 2 screens with most games, i think they'll only play on one monitor....not sure though some one with more knowledge in this field will have to agree or correct me.

as for working within windows, using solid edge, paint shop pro, adobe premier etc i wish i had 2 lcds

2 monitors will be used as 1 large monitor. In the nvidia menu...it shows. Only problem is having a line down the middle where the monitors seperate. Thats why im looking for the thinnest bezels so that the line wont be to bad.

Not in games, at least to my knowledge.

Depends what you use computer for. Having Dreamweaver open on one monitor and then Adobe Photoshop on another helps tremendously.

I ran a dual head w/ 2 samsung 17" panels for awhile. The bezels were super thin, but it was still very annoying for games. The crosshair, on Far-Cry for example was half on one screen and half on the other. Hard to explain it words, but any game I tried ( FC, HL2, WoW, Eq1) was borderline unplayable. Dual heads are great for extra desktops space or using multiple pages/apps like Tabb mentioned. For games 1 large screen is much better especially considering the focal point in most games will be right on the bezel split.

It's definately possible to do this. I've seen even seen a setup with 3 19inch LCDs, but I believe it needed a special video card to be able to do this. I saw a few photos of it playing some recent games. On all three screens.
I don't know exactly what you would to do to get it to work though.

It was a Matrox card that did the 3 CRT's. I would love to have 3 (17 inch) LCD's in games. That would be cool.

Oh the card I used did it fine ( for two screens ), the problem was the 1.25" strip of dead space right in the center of the FOV *where you would be focusing most of the time*. I actually ended up running them mirrored instead of split it was so bad.

Actually a 3 monitor setup sounds like it would be much better for games. You would be focusing on the center screen, the dead bezel space would be much less noticable since it would be so far off to the right and left.

Yeah, I don't think I could stand two for games with that dead space. However, when it comes to working and doing desktop stuff two or more are extremely nice! I would hate to have only one at this point.

Thanks for all the input. The line down the center was what concerned me in gaming. Im gonna ditch the idea of getting matching monitors then for gaming. I could just go with a 19 for my gaming and 17 for web browsing on the other screen. I would go 20 on my gaming but 20 would run at 1600x1200 and the 17 1280x1024 which would screw things up i assume.

Not at all, you can run seperate resolutions on each display. For instance I am still working on getting rid of the last of my CRTs but in the meantime my main display (19" LCD) is at 1280x1024 and the 19" CRT secondary monitor is at 1280x960.
