I have a Soyo K7ADA (or a model # close to this one), AMD 1700+ and 2 PC2100 DDR .. The system rock and rolls .. everything runs really good until it has been up for 5 to 10 minutes .. the system completly freezes .. on the hardware level .. the hard drive stops spinning , the keyboard and mouse stop responding and a hard boot is required. I am guessing that the high powered CPU fan is not doing it's job or the memory is burning up with the mediocre cooling of the case .. has anyone else experienced this ??? I would hate to think that it is due to a bad memory chip.. that would suck... I am going to try some DDR heatsinks later today and possibly a new volcano CPU fan but I just wanted anyone's input if they have had the same issue before.. Thanks

unpopulate one of the mem slots...varying in turn each stick of ram in 0 slot...try same procedure w/ slot 1...this will help isolate if itsa ram problem..hope you know not to leave power plugged up and to take proper antistatic precautions

As much as I would like to say try a new cpu fan or check your RAM, I've been seeing a lot of this lately with Soyo boards... not sure if it truly is a board problem or not but it is a possibility:confused:

EDIT: You might also try cooling your chipset, Radioshack has some chipset fans that you could buy just to test whether or not it is the prob.

What are your cpu and board temps? Do you have your hs/f mounted correctly? Sounds like it's reaching a point where it locks up from heat.

I am trying to avoid mentioning issues with the motherboard because this is the 2nd board .. first burned out when I turned it on the first time .. the system has a chipset cooling feature already .. not a very good one .. but a cooling fan none the less. I was going to try the memory removal but figured they were OK after running a diag against them .. will try it later today .. Thanks for your input ..
