Anyone know if there's a rottentomatoes.com equivalent for books?
If not, then any recommendations for "fresh" material?

Amazon user reviews are often helpful.

What kind of books do you like?

There are SF & fantasy book threads here fairly often, an Advanced Search of recent threads might find a couple, archived threads would find a bunch more.

SAS Survival Handbook.

It'll come in handy when the zombies come. Has helpful pictures too.

Im not leaning in any particular direction in terms of genre.
Thats part of the reason why im looking for something new and fresh.

I'll try the google but if I see anything harry potter related on those lists then im just gonna come back here and hope someone found the rottentomatoes for books.

One of my favorites is "Skunk Works" by Ben Rich with Leo Janos. It's a true account of the Lockheed Skunk Works, which produced a lot of cutting-edge planes that have shaped and redefined American airplanes. And I really mean cutting-edge -- the F-104 Starfighter, which was one of the first airplanes to fly faster than Mach 2; the U-2, a spy plane that flew above 70,000 ft back when planes topped out at 55,000 ft or so; the SR-71, built in the 1960's but flew faster than Mach 3 at around 85,000 ft; and the F-117, which was virtually invisible to radar and dropped the precision bombs that we saw on CNN during the Gulf War.. Not only does it give you a good idea of the tremendous technological difficulties they overcame, but it's also full of humorous anecdotes that make the pages just turn by themselves. A very good read.
