I was in high school when I started catching episodes of the show and it seemed to be a really good program , on the level of sesame street at the time. Then I saw it a couple weeks ago. It is not like it was. It was trying to make social commentary with short documentary like clips rather than being about the books. The show was about black children whose fathers were in jail and how they read books together. A good topic, but I think off focus from the original shows. Don't think it should be taken off, but it wasn't at all like the early shows.

And slowly but surely all of the good shows die. :(

Had a good run though; was obsessed with this as a kid. When I learned LaVar was the same guy as Geordi (when I was about 5) I was all NO WAI. Lol. Good times.

Yeah, I had no idea this show was still on and am amazed that LeVar Burton was still hosting after all these years.

I definitely watched a lot of Reading Rainbow as a kid.

That's why I started watching star trek IIRC. I was interested to see what this other program was and then I also discovered the movies and what not.

I watched a lot of PBS because my parents were too cheap for cable and it was the only station we could get reliably OTA.

I liked many of their shows and when I flip through PBS now it seems like there aren't many shows like it anymore. I remember 3-2-1 Contact, Square One, some drawing program with a guy called Commander Mark. Plus all those Nature/Nova stuff on primetime.

Wow, I didn't know it was still on. That was my favorite show until I got a little older and into TNMT.

Well it's only several thousand to renew it, if someone were to pay for the show I am sure they would air it.
