Reading CPU Temps

i've had issues getting Core Temp running on Vista and by suggestion on one of the threads here, i have installed Everest (trial) and i am liking it.

now, be warned, i am a complete noob and i may ask dumb questions...

so here goes...

1) it seems that everest reads CPU temps and Core Temps... ok, i get it... but...
a) what temp should i be concerned with?
b) why is CPU temp so low when Core temperatures are so high?
c) when folks are posting their overclocked or other system temperatures at load and idle, are they referring to CPU temp or an average of Core temps?

2) everest has it's own version of stress test program. is this suffice or should i run everest solely for temps and run Orthos and such?

3) i have installed WC'd block on my NB... what is the best way to read my NB temp?

thanks in advance for your patience...
