I bought a Palm IIIc a little while ago (got a great deal and decided it was time to replace my 4 year old US Robotics Palmpilot Professional). The IIIc had a promo for a "colour pack". I sent away for it and one of the items was the Peanut Press reader with four free books. I've tried AvantGo and figured, what the heck the books are free and I installed it.

Today, riding the train to and from work, I read _Arrows of the Queen_ by Mercedes Lackey. I had always thought the PDA screen was too small to be worth trying to read something fairly long, but I was wrong. The reading experience was pretty good. I'm glad I have a rechargeable battery, though.

Peanut Press 's website has a ton of books for sale, and they sell Science Fiction magazines as well. I may make this to be more of a habit.

Does anyone else use their PDA as an electronic book? If so, does it work well?

I use my iPAQ as an electronic book. PocketPC's come preinstalled with Microsoft Reader on the ROM. It uses ClearType technology so the text is extra smooth. It's very easy to use and I use my iPAQ's directional keypad to flip through the pages. I can also listen to Audible books as well.

I'm currently reading Moby Dick (for the umpteenth time;))

I know that "Project Gutenburg" has tons of free books available, many that have been converted to the Palm DOC format. I'll have to check that out. I was surprised how good the reading experience was.

Peanut Press sells MS Win CE books as well.
