Reading a Mac disk on Windows 7...

A mac laptop went through baggage handlers and would not POST or anything. I took out the HD and want to read it in Windows 7. Any suggestions?

Seemed to work great for reading. Im not sure the "copy" utility works though. I tried to make a full copy and only got a few directories. Any suggestions on mounting a mac drive in windows? There seems to be tons of applications to run a windows VM in a mac, but nothing vice versa.

I believe gparted will help you.

boot to it, mount your drives/folders and copy away.

Gparted is just a partition management tool like Partition Magic, any Linux Live CD should be able to read an HFS+ volume.

PartedMagic would be a good choice. It gives you a bunch of useful tools for rescuing systems...
