Hey,

I'm thinking about purchasing a PDA soon, and was wondering if anyone knew if the new WinCE devices could read .txt files? Whenever I hear about their text capabilities, they always seem to talk about programs with proprietary reader formats. So does the file have to be a specially compiled program to run on the PDA, or can most files that windows98 can read be read on WinCE also? I'm kind of in the dark on how its file system works.

Thanks

To my knowledge, out of box, CE can read .txt. If not, you can easily download a program equivilant to "Documnets to Go".

Win CE can read and create txt out of the box. Other formats (DOC), will be converted to the pocket version automatically. When you take them off the pda, they will be converted back. Documents to go is a palm program, which has absolutely nothing to do with Win CE.
