The $100 difference seems well worth it to cover your butt for any games that may require a hard drive, especially given the other components that are thrown in with it...

Except for if the $300 version is cracked and you can throw in a 160GB HD which go for $40 AR?

I don't see how some games, especially not MANY, that could REQUIRE a hdd. Yes you'll need a memory card, a hidden cost for the $300 system unless they're nice enough to include one. Otherwise it does make sense to buy the HDD 360

To use your own, you'll need a laptop HD which isn't $40/160GB. You'll need a compatible holder/caddy since it's removable. You may need a mod chip to get the xbox360 to recognize the drive.

You'll also need to find some way to copy the xbox1 emulation profiles off of someone else's HD (or some warez archive) if you want to play any xbox1 games.
