Linky!

Hmm....guess I'm not too surprised by this since the original XBox all came with a hard drive. But if you're going to buy (I won't!) you probably should go ahead and spend the dollars upfront to buy one with a drive.

repost/ofn...

I wonder if the HD-less version will be able to be hacked so you can throw your own HD in there. Only problem there I guess is that I think the 360 is going to use laptop HDDs, which aren't cheap and have nowhere near the capacity of desktop drives, so you'd probably have to do some modding to the system to get it to work...

i dont think im getting 360 or any next gen system. 60-70 dollars for next gen games??too much for my liking. Ide rather upgrade pc and anyways if i really did want a next gen console i would wait for prices to come down.

yeah! last time i heard you could connect up a PSP to an XBOX 360 with a USB cable. So i am pretty sure you could connect up a external USB HD.

I'd guess they will try to lock-down the 360 as much as possible given what has happened with modding and the Xbox. Still, someone may find a way, and I wouldn't find knowing, cause the $399 is crap to me except the fact that it has a hard drive. I've seen better deals lately on laptop drives, and the rotation speed probably isn't crucial like it is on a PC. The fact that the Xbox has a hard drive to cache things makes it much faster loading than that gd PS2.

Not sure why this is suprising. It seemed the majority out there thought it would be standard anyways. Honestly it should be, even if the base system costs more. Bad mistake by M$ imo not making it standard, the hard drive is just so beneficial that I dont get the point of why even have the option. Sure it saves money, put in a smaller hard drive, that would save money too.

But imo it should be standard and any gamer who goes out and pays $50+ for just a couple memory cards instead of the hard drive upgrade really cant see the big picture. And M$ dropped the ball by worrying too much about the low end price. They should not of made any model that comes without a hard drive. Heck use the Xbox's 10 or so GB hd that they produce now in the low end model. I am sure they are getting them rather cheap.
