read only hard disk

i have this strange problem
i have a sata disk formated to exfat file system and put it on an external case
i try to back up some files from an old computer.
during the copy the computer crashed
and now my hard drive has been sent to read only mode!?!?!?
i install it as an internal drive and still get the same message
the media has write protection remove it and try again!?!??!?!
what !?!??!?!?!
from when hard drive have write protection??
how on earth i can restore the drive??
i need help fasstttttttttttt
