Personally I wish they would implement a tiered system similar to DSL. I am willing to pay for my bandwidth usage and would love to have the option to pay a bit more and be allowed to run a server and have the upload limit raised. These are all things you can do with DSL but not with most cable systems at the moment.

I wonder if they will give you a discount if they were to overpopulate your node which would result in a slower than exexcted download speed..Didn't think so

Knew it was only a matter of time before AOHell showed through. At least they don't make you download and user AoHell's interface.

Wonder if they will offer me a discount because I sometimes go a month d/ling fewer than 100 megs. Didn't think so.

If your paying for the damn service your paying for the damn service. If they want to charge you $1 for every hundred megs of data that flows your way, thats fine, but this is straight up BS.

Oh, and I have a sneaking suspicion this is coming about because of the 54 billion write off AOL took. Looks like they overpaid-severely-for time warner.

over here it's very simple -- when you are going over your monthly 20 gig they put you on smallband
repeat this 3 times and they ask you to upgrade to a different (read pricier) subscription --
if you refuse they kick you out

I resent that statement. I do download some music and I've downloaded some VCD's but consider this... I own about 125 DVD's between movies and music DVD - just picked up "Spy Game" today in fact. I also own well over 250 music CD's. Still want to call me a pirate, buddy? Think I'm hurting the MPAA or MIAA? Think they're pissed at a criminal like me? How many DVD's or CD's do you own? Who do you think the music/record industry wants as a customer? Me or you?

You "holier than thou's" make me sick. Next time try and think before you shoot your mouth off with a statement like that...

To all of you saying "I'm glad I'm not on TW", it will only be a short lived bout of gladness.

Once the other cable providers see advantages to charging for bandwidth they will all want to follow suit.
