Read Error

Sorry i didnt write anything, typing error.
My problem is when i turn the pc on i get a read error of my HD,then i set another HD as the master and i have to reassing the LBA sectors or something like that in order to make my HD work as a slave. It´s a Samsung SP1604N 160GB.
Is it my main board or is it my HD?
My main board is a Compaq 0400h with a P3@500MHZ, i know its old i want to know if its worthed to change my HD in case that is my problem or just get a new mainboard.
