That's what I don't want to see. Patches for console games are something I've loved not having to mess with in the past. That's the beauty of console gaming. You buy the disc, you put it in, and you play. No wondering why it doesn't work with your config, why this week's Detonator drivers aren't compatible, or why your Via chipset + SB Live is messing up the sound. Just pure "gonna work" no hassle gaming . . . >>
You're right, patches don't need to exist for console games because of the unified hardware. They can, however add functionality to an existing game. It would aslo allow game producers to fix problems with their games that aren't fixed before release.
