Hi,

I am sharing out a directory in my Redhat 7.2 Server using samba. This directory is access by Window2k Pro. I need to set this share directory so that it can be read and write but cannot delete anything from this share directory. How can I do this. Please guide me, Thanks !

If they don't have to create files, just edit them, don't give them write access to the directory. But if they can write to the directory they can delete from it too, I'm not aware of any way around that.

back it up on a regular basis........

remember even if U cant delete, U could open the file, delete all the info and save it back out... effectively deleting the file. Just setup a cron job (or AT under windows) and backup the directoy to another location every 8 hours or something...
