Has anyone tried the ReactOS lately ?

Is any significant progress being made on that O/S.

Sounds like a great idea but the last several times I have tried it, it was pretty much disappointing.

I looked at it.
The idea is interesting but I think they lack the man power to pull it off.
Then there are likely to be copyright and patent problems if they do start to become succesful.

So it's a reverse engineered version of a 10 year old Windows NT OS?

At the risk of upsetting Open Source fans... What's the point?

It's an interesting exercise, but 10 years of development to produce something that sort of works and doesn't even have a date set for when it will reach 50% compatibility...

Given the growing popularity of 64bit Operating systems, why bother with it from a user standpoint?

I guess it's a neat technical challenge and might be interesting to use in a VM environment a few years down the road when you just need to bang out a w32 app for some reason buy beyond that it does seem like a lot of wasted man hours.
