Re: Wireless Networking, is this possible?

I was told that it is possible to use a desktop and wireless PCI card to create an access point so that different wireless devices can share an internet connection through that desktop. Anyone know about this?

Yes that can be done. It'd just be like using 2 nics in one system so that one goes to your cable/dsl and the other goes to your second sys/network. Though a cheap wireless router or access point would be alot easier.

Well this is what I want to do with this setup. Basically I have two desktops and one laptop, and each of them have a wireless card. I want to be able to share a dial-up connection through the wireless connection. I want to be able to roam around the house and still be able to access the net without having to plug into a phone jack, so one desktop would be serving as an access point and remains connected to the internet through dial-up. I would get broad band but it costs an arm and leg where I am.
