Question Re-use those old "Worthless" VGA-input LCD monitors, with modern HDMI-output video cards, with this $15 "UGREEN" dongle.

I recently found out about these, and these seem perfect to re-use some VGA-only input monitors that I have, with modern PCs and video cards. Yeah, they're $15, added onto the cost of the monitor, but it keeps the monitors from being "dead weight", and you can use a standard thin and lightweight HDMI cable, rather than a heavy VGA card, to connect them.

There are cheaper dongles that do similar things, that have an HDMI male, to VGA female, that still require using a heavy VGA cable to connect (around $8-12), but I specifically wanted the "UGREEN" model, so that I could use the HDMI cable instead.

Hopefully they work OK, haven't ever tried one of these before.

The adapter cables with a good amount of reviews, you usually can get a good idea of if they are going to work from reviews. I bet they work fine.

I'm with you on keeping old stuff in use.. even if you're gamer who has a 300fps main monitor, you probably could use a 2nd 'dischord monitor' or whatever you use a 2nd monitor for..

I ignore HDMI / DVI monitors at Goodwill thrift store every day for $6 or $9.
We used to have a Salvation Army thrift store in town, but they almost never had anything electronic. Actually, there was an electronics recycler in town, I used to get "used, tested" monitors for $20-30, which would be good enough, but that place closed down for some reason, not enough business.

For $6 I would pick up an HDMI monitor just to throw a roku on. I guess you would also need a set of pc speakers. But I never see those prices here. 20 to 30 is what I have paid for "recycled" 1080p 24's. Stocked up for a lifetime though.

I wish more people would try triples, if it keeps them out of the dump and provides a better user experience. It should, more efficient work and more fun gaming, 2 or 3 fit on a typical desk easier than you think. The modern LED monitors don't really hit your electric bill hard either.
