Just came back from seeing Terminator, and seeing Common in it kinda pissed me off. Every single moment they showed Common made me suck my teeth in...it totally bootlegged the movie.

Then during the trailers for some "Gamer" movie, there was Ludacris. Ludacris...really.

And then theres that UPS movie with Black Scrubs (who I like a lot) with that other rapper dude who did that other movie with Jack Black. I hate that guy.

It's getting really annoying seeing rappers acting the wannabe movie star thing, and I wish Hollywood would cut the shit already. I don't want my movie going experience to show a bunch of dumbasses on-screen and it's pissing me off already. No one wants to see these jackasses.

Movies should be made with normal actors, not rappers.

Cliffs: Rappers in movies = fail.

** OP post below...damn time warps

Thank you. It's really getting annoying. I don't want to see them on-screen. Most of them can't act for shit.

At least Common was decent in Smoking Aces, but I can't stand the others.

I agree with OP, but also agree with this. Mos Def is enjoyable on screen.

Is that the guy who did the House episode? It didn't do it for me... the whole time I was thinking this guy is a wanna-be and pulled strings somehow. He didn't do a good job playing a normal family guy who was emotional at all.

Yeah, thats the guy. I actually didn't finish that episode because I thought it was ghetto as hell. I am pretty sure House solved it, but for once I wish he didn't.

Before you shun Ludacris entirely, check out 'Crash'. He actually did well enough there to surprise me.

Don't get me started on that. Thank goodness Eminem learned his lesson with that crap.

Your problem is not seeing how horrendously bad these movies are in the first place. Yes that is an annoying trend but so far luckily they are only being placed in the worst of movies. There's your problem :)

They're just trying to find another gig for when the public realizes that they suck at rap.

I think Xzibit was the only one to make the 'successful' transition to any form of other media... with "Pimp my Ride"

the guy who did the movies with "Black Scrubs" and Jack Black is Mos Def. He was acting before he had his first record deal. I'm not sure why you would call him a dumbass? I can't say Mos Def is a good actor. He was good in The Italian Job. The only other movies I've seen him in were "Something The Lord Made" and "16 Blocks". He played retards in both, and didn't show much personality, but I would say that is on par with the majority of actual acting ability that the rest of non-rapper Hollywood musters. I could see him getting a role in the future where he actually shows that he is a very good actor, but I could also see him never doing it. Just can't tell with him yet. I will say that he is one of my favorite rappers.

Common has been pretty good; in Smokin' Aces (which otherwise sucked), and in Street Kings. I think he'll eventually have high profile roles (leading or supporting actor) in mainstream movies, and possibly win some awards before he retires. That is if he continues to get better, not at his current skill level.

What about Mark Wahlberg in The Departed?

Will Smith (I am Legend, The Pursuit of Happiness, Bad Boys).

I can't think of any other rappers who've been good on screen. I sense excess anger in the OP.

I think we can all blame Will Smith for this.

He was the first to successfully transition from a "rap" career to the big screen with Bad Boys in 1995... and everyone who comes after think's that they can repeat his success.

Pssst......Will Smith's "big screen" debut was in 1992 in Where the Day Takes You, followed by a starring role in Six Degrees of Separation in 1993.

I just had this conversation with a friend the other day and the only one I could come up with is Andre 3000. I think he's been pretty good in the movies I've seen him in (Four Brothers, Be Cool).

Where the day takes you grossed $390,152 total. I wouldn't consider that a BREAKOUT role.

Six Degrees did a little better, with $6.4 million... but Bad Boys grossed $65,647,413 .. as i indicated... BREAKOUT role.... the role that indicates he can hold his own.

I wouldn't have known any of the guys mentioned so far were rappers (except Will Smith) if you didn't say, so I guess it doesn't bother me. But that guy in the House episode (assuming you're talking about the locked-in syndrome episode) was by far the worst actor that has ever had a "patient" role on that show. By far. He was awful.
