RE: The DFI NF2 Ultra "Performance" BIOS mentioned in the review.

I have an DFI LanParty NF2 Ultra board, and I was wondering where I can get the "performance" BIOS that Wesley mentioned in his recent review? I have been to DFI's website and there is no such BIOS posted (not even in the Beta section), and I've had no luck in doing a search for it. I have, however, just downloaded the latest BIOS (time coded 07/18/03) but this does not appear to be the "performance" BIOS (as that one is time coded 07/10/03). I could really use this BIOS, so, PLEASE, if anyone can shed some light on this subject, Post it here.

please send an email to tech@dfiweb.com and ask them for the performance BIOS.

The latest one at the site is also a worthy BIOS for overclocking.

Thanks for the reply.

I had emailed Wesley and he had already given me the information as well as a copy of the BIOS. I flashed to the "performance" BIOS and actually had a slower boot time as a result. It was perfectly stable and all, but I found that it would allways initialize PCI first even when I set "Init Display First" to "Onboard/AGP". So in the end I decided to use the latest "retail" BIOS. Besides, truth be told, the extra memory options just really aren't needed. I was just under the impression that there were a few more tweak options under the "Genie BIOS", which is why I wanted it in the first place.

I can not see a lot of differences in the retail bios and the beta performance bios in terms of performance. I have switched back to the latest retail release for about the same reasons you have. I can get just as much out of the DFI NF2 with the latest retail bios as I can with the beta.
