Re-Subscribing before current subscription runs out?

I remember seeing a thread about this a few months ago and was wondering what ever came of it.

Will it work ok if I subscribe for another year before my current subscription runs out, or should I just wait? By ok I mean just tacking on another 365 days to my remaining couple weeks.
