Re-registering a vehicle

I have a car that has an expired registration since April I think. It hasn't been used for anything, just kind of sitting in the driveway.

If I wanted to get it re-registered so someone could use it for the winter, is that a simple process? Costs?

Depends on vehicle and its age (determine its value), and your state. Nobody here can tell you what it will cost. Call up your county's vehicle registration place and they can tell you what to do :)

You can get plates pro-rated in some states, but most likely they will want you to license the vehicle for the next year as well. As for costs, it should be the same as it was last year unless you live in Michigan, which just raised their fees.

Pretty sweet.

I just called and it only costs $30 since they pro-rate it. I was assuming there would be some sort of penalty for having it unregistered for a while....

Only if you drove it.
