General Synopsis: About 3 years ago, I had purchased a Guillemot Maxi Sound MUSE Sound Card from BestBuy. I had the sound card working with Windows ME and Win2k. Now that i've switched over to Windows XP, I can't get the damn thing to work! Help ! --> Read the full story below.
About 3 years ago, I went to BestBuy to purchase a Sound Card. I found a good deal on the Maxi Sound MUSE so I decided to buy it. When I got home, I put it in, started up WinME (help us all haha)
and was able to get the card detected. The next few months it ran great with minor problems here and there but tech support was able to help. After a few months, I had gotten tired of the instability of WinME so I moved to Win2k. I installed my new components and, again, the sound card worked great with the new Operating System. Now, just recently, I decided to move to WinXP. As I ran through the installation, WinXP installed drivers for everything. Upon the first boot of WindowsXP I noticed I wasn't getting any sound from my sound card. I thought it was just a driver problem, So I decided to head over to the guillemot webpage, www.guillemot.com i believe, to download the appropriate drivers. I stumbled on the "Win2k/WinXP Drivers for Maxi Sound MUSE. Compatible with WinXP" So i downloaded the file, uninstalled the old drivers that were displayed in the Device Manager, and ran the setup for the new "Win2k/WinXP" drivers. Installation finished and I restarted. Upon the restart, I found that I still wasn't getting any sound. I decided to email their tech support for further guidance to solve this problem. About mid-2000, After 2 weeks of waiting, I received no reply, so I decided to email them again, stating my problem and steps that I had taken to TRY to resolve the problem. Also, I play Half-Life : Counter-Strike. I also use a microphone. This microphone is hooked up to the Maxi Sound MUSE and it works. I am still waiting for a reply from them to resolve my problem. Can anyone help me? This problem is annoying, Oh for sound, I'm using the onboard sound.
