Question ....

Has anyone found away to apply the new VIA VT6410 Raid
bios update 6410V120.rom to a P4P800 Deluxe ?

I have check through the various Web & Ftp sites for ASUS,
but can only find the new ROM, but not the EXE to apply it.

I also check the VIA web site and find in the VIA forum the
same questions being asked " how do I apply the new ROM "

For those who might be interested, ASUS has posted a new
BIOS for the P4P800 [1010 beta 1], but no details on what it is.
[I applied it ... doesn't test any different .... must be fixes]

ftp://ftp2.asus.com.tw/pub/ASUS/mb/sock478/p4p800/1010-001.zip

finally someone who also wonders this. I noticed that small bios file for the 1.20 version of the Via controller but also have no idea of how to apply it, except one work-around way:

One curious thing I noticed is that bios version 1009.003 INCLUDES via bios 1.20 in it, while the final release of 1009 does NOT include the new via bios. This is the only way I can see to get via 1.20 on your system at this time.

The only problem is, when I used 1009.003 I couldnt boot into windows anymore with the new via controller version, so I had to go back to final 1008 (im running final 1009 now). I think I'd have to reinstall windows and/or recreate my raid-0 array and I didnt feel like doing that. I kept a copy of 1009.003 incase i ever want to use 1.20 tho 🙂 I'm just hoping they put it in a future bios version and it will work without forcing me to recreate my entire raid array.

it was just on the asus site as they were doing their beta updates on 1009... i have it if u want me to email it to you. i dont know if they still carry it on their site. ~500kb file

email me @ flakkster@hotmail.com if u want me to send it

-- edit --

just be warned that your windows installation may not work with other bioses because they contain the 1.12 still and you'd have created your array on 1.20

I found the answer in this forum ... sort of

I DL'd 1009.007 from BIGTOE's site and my VIA bios is now v1.40

Basically, you go back to BIOS 1.006 and flash it using the executable, then flash each BIOS in order to 1.009. I'm pretty sure they don't mean the beta versions also, I just did the finals on each.

My question is.. how come they included these higher via raid bioses in the betas, and then completely dropped them in the final release of the bios?

and secondly, what are the changes in 1.20 and 1.40? It would be nice to know what improvements they made, especially if they are performance improvements.

Thanks for the link btw. I grabbed beta 7 just so I can try 1.40 via sometime 🙂 Let me know if you notice anything notably better about 1.40
